Transfer: Barcelona in Talks with Man United over Defender deal

Manchester United have been offered Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann in exchange for Victor Lindelöf. Barca are looking to take advantage of Raphael Varane's move to Old Trafford, which has seen Lindelöf drop down the pecking order.

"We are proud of our journey" - Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has said that Portugal is proud of their journey after their European Championship title defence was ended by Belgium. Portugal bowed out of Euro 2020 on Sunday as a Thorgan Hazard strike gave the Belgians a 1-0 win in the sides' last-16 tie in Seville. The Seleção won just one of their four Euro 2020 matches, which is their fewest in a single European Championship tournament since their first appearance in 1984 (also one win). The 23 shots recorded by Portugal against Belgium is the highest tally for a team at Euro 2020 without scoring, with Ronaldo responsible for four of those attempts. Despite his side's disappointing exit in the first knockout round, Juventus star Ronaldo is proud of his team-mates and is predicting a bright future for the Euro 2016 and Nations League 2019 winners. "We didn't get the result we wanted and we left the race sooner than we wanted," he posted on his official Instagram page. "But we are proud of

Euro 2020: France knocked out by the Swiss

Kylian Mbappe sensationally missed the decisive shoot-out penalty as Switzerland knocked out Euro 2020 favourites France after a six-goal thriller to set up a quarter-final clash with Spain. The superstar striker stepped up to take the 10th kick of the shoot-out but was denied by a brilliant stop by Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer to cap a classic contest and a day of incredible drama at the European Championships. Early in the game Switzerland had taken a shock lead through Haris Seferovic's header (15), but France turned it around with a four-minute burst featuring a Hugo Lloris penalty save, and Karim Benzema double (57, 59) before Paul Pogba (75) looked to have sealed it by curling a stunning shot into the top corner. However, just like Croatia against Spain earlier in the day, Switzerland refused to lie down and produced their own comeback in the final nine minutes, with Seferovic powering in another header (81), and Mario Gavranovic (90) firing in from the edge of the bo

Manchester city sanction sale on Mahrez and Sterling to fund Kane mega move

Euro: Germany rallied back to stay alive, avoids elimination scare

Leon Goretzka scored late to keep Germany in the European Championship after a 2-2 draw against Hungary on Wednesday. Jamal Musiala made an immediate impact after coming on in the 82nd minute, eluding three defenders to give Timo Werner room to shoot. Werner was blocked but the rebound fell for Goretzka, who shot past goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi in the 84th. It had looked like Ádám Szalai was going to drag his team into the round of 16. The Hungary captain scored one goal early against the run of play and set up András Schäfer to make it 2-1 right after Kai Havertz had equalized for Germany. Germany made the better start but was caught out early yet again in the tournament when Szalai met Roland Sallai’s cross with a flying header on a counterattack in the 11th. Germany struggled against Hungary’s defensive 5-3-2 formation and was further hampered by heavy rain from a thundershower in the first half. The home team finally made a breakthrough in the 66th when the normally excel

Euro 2020: Record-breaking Cristiano Ronaldo helps Portugal advance

Two penalties from Cristiano Ronaldo helped holders Portugal squeeze into the last 16 of the European Championship after a 2-2 draw with France on Wednesday in a dramatic conclusion to Euro 2020 Group F. World champions France won the group by one point from Germany in second with Portugal third, level on points with Germany. Ronaldo converted both the penalties to level Portugal 2-2 against France. Ronaldo’s 109th international goal was drawing him level with Ali Daei as the world’s top marksman. Ronaldo’s former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema has scored a brace for France. Leon Goretzka scored late to keep Germany in the European Championship with a 2-2 draw against Hungary Ronaldo edged his side in front from the penalty spot, becoming the first European in World Cup and Euros history to score a combined 20 goals across the two competitions. Transfer: Man Utd in Advanced Talks to Sign Forward from Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United are in advanced negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of forward Jadon Sancho. United have made two bids, the latest of which was made last week and comprised a fee in excess of £75m, closer to Dortmund's valuation. There is still work to do before an agreement is struck - notably the structure of payments. Dortmund want the majority of the fee paid up front with the rest in achievable add-ons. Personal terms are not expected to be a problem as they were agreed when United went in for Sancho last summer. Reports in Germany suggest Dortmund want a resolution before July 23, when the squad goes on a pre-season training camp. Sancho's contract runs until the summer of 2023 - something not lost on United as Dortmund don't want to risk Sancho entering the final year of his deal. Dortmund have a "gentleman's agreement" with Sancho allowing him to leave if "certain conditions" are met. There is an increased

IKEA launches "Cristiano" water bottle after Ronaldo Coca-Cola controversy

Cristiano Ronaldo has already made history at the European Championships by becoming the tournament’s outright all-time top goalscorer, surpassing France legend Michel Platini, with whom he was tied on nine goals before the start of Euro 2020.  The Portugal star has so far found the net on three occasions to bring his career tournament record to 12 goals. But despite his history-making feats on the pitch, Ronaldo has made more headlines over his actions in a press conference before he had even kicked a ball at the tournament. Footage of Ronaldo removing two bottles of Coca-Cola from the desk and replacing them with a bottle of water in the prematch press conference ahead of Portugal-Hungary has undoubtedly been the viral sensation of Euro 2020. Such was the impact of Ronaldo’s actions, that tournament sponsor Coca-Cola saw billions wiped off its market value when its share pace took a drop on Wall Street. While the Ronaldo controversy has served as a major headache for Coca C

Super League will still go ahead says Laporta

Joan Laporta insists Barcelona will not apologise for "wanting to be the owners of our own destiny" in an impassioned defence of the doomed European Super League. The contentious project failed to get off the ground after nine of the 12 founding members pulled out amid a furious backlash to competition. Last month, UEFA issued fines to Atlético Madrid, Inter, Milan, and the six Premier League teams involved but a court ruling meant disciplinary proceedings against Barça, Real Madrid and Juventus – the three teams yet to cut ties with the Super League – had to be halted. Barça president Laporta remains adamant the Super League will still go ahead in some guise in the future as he issued a note of defiance when addressing the club's general assembly, where he explained a vote on participation in the competition was no longer necessary as the format no longer existed. "We spoke with the clubs [involved] and said we liked [the proposals], but that we needed the

Manchester United Open to Varane-Pogba Swap deal

“There will be less movement in the summer transfer market, but some of them will be big ones,” According to reports. “And there will be a lot more swap deals than financial transfers. ” Real Madrid are unlikely to be one of the club’s making any kind of splash in the market, having been forced to shelve their plans to try and sign either Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland, but an opportunity may have presented itself as a side-effect of the long-running contract stand-off with France defender Raphaël Varane: the possibility of doing a swap deal with Manchester United for Paul Pogba. Madrid’s midfield is one of the strongest in Europe, but there is little doubt that Luka Modric (35) and Toni Kroos (31), who is reportedly considering retiring from international duty after the Euros, only have so much left in the tank. Casemiro is now 29. Pogba has always been on Madrid’s radar and was one of the players Zinedine Zidane tried to sign various times without success during the Frenchma
