Man Utd Appoint Solskjaer as Permanent Manager

Manchester United have announced that current caretaker manager and former striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjær, has been appointed as the club’s full-time manager on a three-year contract. Solskjær scored 126 goals in 366 appearances for United between 1996 and 2007 and also managed the club’s reserve team until the end of 2010. Fadeyi Oloro Cries For Help As He Battles Strange Ailment

Veteran actor, Ojo Arowosafe, aka Fadeyi Oloro, is currently battling a strange ailment and has called out to Nigerians to come to his aid. Speaking with The Punch on how the illness started, the actor said: “On that fateful day, I was rushed to the General Hospital, Ile Epo, Agege, Lagos. Six people had to carry me. The sickness just came upon me suddenly and it worsened the injuries I had sustained from an earlier accident I had in Akure. Ganduje Claws Back To Life, Wins In Kano

Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje has clawed back from the jaw of death to win re-election in Kano State, overcoming the main challenger, Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party by 8982 votes, after the supplementary elections held on Saturday. According to the result announced by the returning officer, Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress polled 1,033,695 votes while Kabir-Yusuf got 1,024,713 votes. The PDP agent reportedly walked out of the collation centre before the announcement of the result. Before the supplementary election, the PDP candidate had 1,014,474 votes, while Ganduje got 987,819 votes. In the supplementary elections held in polling units in 28 LGAs, Ganduje got an upper-hand, winning 45,876 votes while the PDP candidate got 10,239 votes. The Collation Officer in Kano, Prof. Bello Shehu, declared Ganduje the winner having satisfied requirements of the law by scoring the highest number of votes. Lagos Orders Occupants Of Distressed Buildings To Vacate, Destroys 20 Others

The Lagos State Government has ordered occupants of marked distressed buildings across the State to immediately vacate them pending the arrival of the demolition team of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA). Also, relief and resettlement centre has been opened to accommodate those affected. Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye gave the order, just as a distressed three-storey building located on 50, Kakawa Street, Campos, Lagos Island collapsed on Monday without any casualty. Ogunleye said, “The building in question had been identified as distressed by the officers of the LASBCA and all the necessary statutory notices had been duly served. Gabriel Okara One of Nigeria’s foremost and famous writers, poets and novelists, Dr Gabriel Okara, hs died at the age of 98. Okara, who is from Boumadi, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa, died at Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Yenagoa on Sunday. The legendary poet and novelist who was a lifelong Patron of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) died at the age of 97 years and a month to his 98th birthday. A family member, who pleaded anonymity, said Okara was relaxing at his Yenagoa residence when he slumped about 4p.m. on Sunday. He said the head of the Okara family has sent a text message out for an emergency meeting, and the family would issue a formal statement afterwards. Chief Jude Emecheta, managing Director of Anambra State Advertising Agency (ANSAA) says the agency is targeting revenue generation of about N500 million for 2019. Emecheta told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Sunday that though the first quarter was almost over, the target was still realistic. Comfort Dooshima, the Gboko Local Government Collation Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been shot by unknown gunmen in Makurdi, the Benue State capital. The University of Agriculture professor was on her way to the INEC headquarters in Makurdi to present results from the local government when she was shot by unknown gunmen. Dooshima was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital. SaharaReporters could not establish as of the time of filing this report if she was still alive or dead. Benue is one of five states where supplementary governorship elections, the others being Bauchi, Plateau, Sokoto and Kano.

DSS,Police Begin Fresh Screening At INEC Collation Center In Kano

The Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police have begun fresh screening of journalists, election observers, party agents and other stakeholders at the collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano, Kano State. Journalists were orderly and already seated at the collation hall patiently waiting for continuation of the suspended event when security personnel suddenly announced that everyone should move out for a fresh screening, regardless of the tags previously given to journalists by INEC. As of the time of filing in this report, the people had been returned into the hall. Buhari Signs New Act

President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the Engineers Registration Amendment Act 2019, to address the menace of collapsed buildings and other cases of engineering failures in the country. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Ita Enang, revealed this when he briefed State House correspondents in Abuja on Friday. According to him, the Act also establishes the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) with far-reaching powers of prosecution of infractions, regulating industrial training of engineers, capacity building of local content in engineering industry. President Muhammadu Buhari says he believes in the will of the people and cannot put pressure on voters to elect leaders they do not like. Buhari in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Friday, dismissed insinuations that he was forcing voters to elect candidates other than those they preferred during the supplementary elections scheduled for 17 states on March 23. The president said at no time did he give instructions that the electorate should vote particular candidates. Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has said he is heading to the Appeal Court following the verdict by a tribunal in Osun, upturning his victory at the state’s governorship election. Tribunal Declares Ademola Adeleke Winner Of Osun Governorship Election

The Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the poll. The Tribunal made the declaration on Friday after dismissing a preliminary objection against the petition of the PDP and Senator Adeleke, challenging the outcome of the September 2018 governorship election in the state. The preliminary objection was filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the election, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The three defendants claimed that the petition of the PDP and its candidate was incompetent and the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to hear it.
