Ronaldo makes Euros’ history as Portugal Defeat Hungary

Two late Ronaldo goals put icing on the cake for the defending champions, and saw the forward become the Euros' highest ever scorer. Moments after Hungary had a breakaway goal disallowed for offside, Raphaël Guerreiro finally got the opener for Portugal, who had utterly dominated but were starting to slightly lose their way. That's the first time Portugal have won their opening match of a tournament since Euro 2008 (in addition to being   their first group-stage win at the Euros since 2012.) It's a bitterly disappointing end to the game for Hungary, but it's a defeat they deserve. Only the heroics of their goalkeeper, Péter Gulácsi, had prevented the Portuguese from scoring earlier. Given that third place may well be enough to go through, Portugal have taken a big step towards the last 16 in advance of their two toughest games, against Germany and France, who play at 3pm EDT in Munich

Denmark's Eriksen still in hospital, condition is stable

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen remained in hospital and was in stable condition on Sunday, after collapsing during his side's Euro 2020 opening match with Finland and being given CPR on the pitch on Saturday, the Danish football association said. "This morning we have spoken to Christian Eriksen, who has sent his greetings to his teammates. His condition is stable, and he continues to be hospitalized for further examination," Danish FA DBU said on Twitter. Eriksen, 29, collapsed suddenly in the 42nd minute of the match while running near the left touchline after a Denmark throw-in. As a hush fell over the 16,000-strong crowd, his teammates gathered around him while he was treated on the pitch and then carried off on a stretcher. "The team and the staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday's incident," DBU said. "We would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt g

Eriksen was 'gone' After suffering cardiac arrest - Denmark Team Doctor

Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when collapsing on the pitch against Finland and "was gone" before being resuscitated, Denmark's team doctor has said. Inter midfielder Eriksen was given CPR by medics in the first half of Saturday's Euro 2020 match after falling to the ground with no other player around him. The fixture was originally suspended, but Eriksen was later confirmed to be "awake" and the game resumed a little under two hours later, with Finland winning 1-0 in Copenhagen. The Danish Football Union (DBU) provided a further update on Sunday confirming Eriksen remains in a stable condition pending further examinations. "His condition is stable and he continues to be hospitalised for further examination," the statement read. "This morning we have spoken to Christian, who has sent his greetings to his team-mates. "The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be t

Cesc responds: Xavi or Iniesta, the most underrated player he has ever played with

Cesc Fabregas answered the questions of his followers on Twitter for half an hour. The Monaco midfielder got wet: his best moment with Barça, the most underrated player he has ever played with ... These were his answers. Your favorite moment with the Barcelona jersey? "My debut against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou to win the Spanish Super Cup. Unforgettable."   The most regrettable haircut? "None, I wish I could do what I did when I was younger."   Honestly, how much do you value Jorginho? Do you think it has improved a lot in the last year? "Yes, he has. A very important player for both Chelsea and Italy. He is in his prime."   Which team reminds you the most of Spain before Euro 2008? "Italy and Spain".   Will Tchouameni be a good signing for Chelsea? What are your strengths? "He has potential to be the complete midfielder. Modern midfielder, but we still need him ... sorry." You have played in Spain, England and now i

Barcelona Make Memphis Depay a New Offer

Barça have put in a new bid for Memphis Depay. According to RAC-1, the Catalan club has made changes to their initial offer of a three-year contract, and would be willing to offer the player a four-year deal. However, the same radio channel are reporting that Barça had originally offered the Dutch player a two-year deal with the option of a third, but are now presenting more attractive wage conditions so that they don't suffer a repeat of what happened with Gini Wijnaldum. Barça are optimistic that they will land Depay and are confident that they will get the player's consent next week. What Mateu Alemany and Ramon Planes had in mind was to announce the signing of the former Manchester United and Olympique Lyon player last week, but that wasn't possible because the player was in action with the Netherlands against Ukraine at Euro 2020. Now the plan is to close the operation before the General Assembly on 20 June. Signing Depay was requested by Koeman over a year ago

Macron also Tells Mbappé to stay at PSG

France remains focused on Clairefontaine awaiting his Euro debut against Germany on the 14th. But beyond this match, rumors about the future of many of their players are unstoppable, especially in the case of Kylian Mbappé . The president of the Republic has visited the French team in Clairefontaine and then has been asked about the future of the French star. "I want the players to be focused only on the European Championship. I am not going to talk about the future of the footballers. PSG is a great club that has been able to make it grow and I think it is important that it stays at PSG. For the club and for the French championship. Then, I'm not going to pressure anyone on this issue. They are very personal choices and I respect them. " What seems clear is that the future of Mbappé is becoming a matter of State. And not only because of the pressure from Qatar, facing the 2022 World Cup where they want to have the presence of this icon assured, but also from

Maguire Back to Training Ahead of England's Euro 2020 Opener

Harry Maguire was back in team training with England on Thursday ahead of their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia at the weekend. All 26 members of Gareth Southgate's squad took part in the session at St George's Park as preparations for Sunday's game at Wembley continued. Maguire has not played since May 9, when he damaged ankle ligaments during Manchester United's 3-1 Premier League win away to Aston Villa. The centre-back missed United's final four league games of the season, in which they lost at home to Leicester City and Liverpool, drew with Fulham and won at Wolves. He also sat out the Europa League final against Villarreal, which the LaLiga side won on penalties following a 0-0 draw in Gdansk. Speaking last week, Southgate said it would be "tight" for Maguire to be considered fully fit for the match against Croatia after he also missed England's warm-up friendlies with Austria and Romania. However, the Three Lions boss insisted it

Neymar blocking any Mbappé PSG exit

Brazilian striker Neymar is anxious not to be left alone as the key reference point at Paris Saint-Germain and his recent renewal deal saw the forward stipulate that one of the conditions on renewing terms was that Kylian Mbappé stays with the Ligue 1 club next season. The Brazilian's deal will see Neymar play at Parc des Princes through to 2025 with everything pointing to both French and Brazilian strikers lining up together in the famous navy shirt for the 2021/22 campaign. Speaking towards the end of May, PSG chief Nasser Al Khelaifi was adamant that: "Mbappé is and will always be a PSG player" he added: "I'm not uneasy about his future, we are ambitious going forward and will make some key signings this summer to back that up", stated the Qatari on RMC Sport on 23 May. Last Monday, speaking to prestigious French sports daily L'Équipe, Al Khelaifi once again outlined his determination and reiterated that Mbappé stays: "I'll say this o
